Humpback Whales

The humpback whales are Puerto Vallarta’s most important vip. They come here every winter from Alaska to have their babies in the bay.

The warm waters of the Bay of Banderas keep the sharks away. Plus the shallow areas are needed as well because when the calfs are born they do not know how to swim.

The humpback whales come here to have their babies and to make new ones.

The humpback whales carry their offspring on their back during the first year to protect them from predators like the killer whales (Orcas).

Orcas Whales.

The famous killer whales or Orcas are seen in the Bay of Banderas, but it’s not common.

Orcas are not whales, they are giant dolphins. They are stealth hunters that you do not want to see when you are out seing humpback whales and their babies.
