Geography:

Located in the heart of Mexico's Pacific coastline, Vallarta is within easy reach of the US and Canada. It is encircled by the rugged, tropical Sierra Madre mountains to the east and fronted by the Bay of Banderas, Mexico's largest natural bay.

The Puerto/Nuevo Vallarta area is surrounded by jungle, and receives considerable rain. As you can see June thru September are the wettest months. Weather in the Spring and Autumn has more moderate temperatures. While rain will not spoil a day at the beach, the storms can be quite beautiful. Rain descending across the hills with lightning illuminating the sky. Temperatures reach 90 degrees F (32 C) during the summer, and the humidity can add to the perception of heat. During the winter, the weather fluctuates more than in the Summer. Temperatures range from a low of the mid 60's F (18 C) to a high of the low 80;s F (26 C).
